The Icelandic Lighting Award

The Icelandic illumination engineering society will hand out The Icelandic lighting award for the first time with ceremony at the “Pearl” during the winter festival of Reykjavik.  The Icelandic lighting award is an honorary award, promoting outstanding lighting design in the built environment. The award will be handed out annually. The winner of the Iceland lighting award will represent Iceland in the Nordic lighting award which is handed out biannually.

The Nordic Lighting Award was established by the Northern Light Committee, which consists of Danish Lighting Center, SuomenValoteknillinenSeura in Finland, Lyskultur in Norway, Ljóstæknifélag in Iceland and Ljuskultur in Sweden. The aim of the award is to highlight the special lighting culture of the Nordic region.

The Icelandic lighting award is set within the Reykjavik winter festival which takes place from the 5th – 8th of February. Members of the Icelandic illumination engineering society will create various lighting installation in and around the Icelandic lighting award venue to underline the power of light at the Reykjavik winter festival. Website: http://www.vetrarhatid.is/
